Trusted local archiving experts
How we handle your slides — from drop-off to digital.
Every slide is cleaned, carefully scanned, and returned to you. Your slides from years gone by are digitized into sharp, bright, high-resolution JPG files — right side up, ready to share, print, and enjoy. We carefully save your scans to USB for archiving, viewing, and printing.
Before scanning begins, we use compressed air to remove dust and debris from each slide. This helps ensure your scans come out clean without requiring heavy retouching after the fact. Slides are then scanned one at a time on professional equipment, and every image is checked and corrected for proper orientation — so you receive your files right side up, in the order you dropped them off.
Standard 35mm slides are scanned at approximately 4,496×3,000 pixels — a resolution high enough to produce quality prints up to 16×24 inches. Files are delivered as high-quality JPGs, organized and saved to a USB drive for easy archiving, viewing, and printing. Higher-resolution upgrades are available on request — just ask at drop-off.

How our slide scanning service works:
How to prepare your slides for scanning
Bring them in order. Arrange slides in the sequence you’d like them digitized. Number the mounts if a specific order matters to you.
Not sure which side is front? If a slide says “this side toward screen,” that’s the back. Dates or numbers usually appear on the front mount.
Stack horizontally, dull side down. Place slides emulsion (dull) side facing down. We’ll handle rotation after scanning.
Remove from containers. Loose slides only — take them out of carousels, sleeves, and envelopes before drop-off.
We keep your treasures safe and local.
We never recommend shipping away family archives, treasured photos and irreplaceable home video movies. It’s too risky. Kohne Camera + The Print Refinery has been professionally preserving memories for over 30 years. Your local slide scanning service in Perrysburg.
Why choose a local slide scanning service in Perrysburg?
When it comes to digitizing irreplaceable family slides, we strongly advise against mailing your originals to a remote service, there’s no way to recover a one-of-a-kind slide once it’s gone.
Our slide scanning service in Perrysburg handles every slide and negative with the same care we’d want for our own family photos — backed by 30 years of experience. Conveniently located for customers throughout Perrysburg, Maumee, Bowling Green, and the greater Toledo area.
Negative scanning in Perrysburg
In addition to mounted slides, we digitize 35mm film negatives — color, black & white, and slide/transparency film. If you have envelopes of negatives from old drug store processing, or strips from a film camera you used in the ’80s or ’90s, we can convert those to digital files too. Bring them in alongside your slides and we’ll assess everything at drop-off.
Slide Scanning FAQs
What resolution are standard 35mm slide scans?
Standard 35mm slide scans from our Perrysburg service are approximately 4,496×3,000 pixels, which supports high-quality prints up to roughly 16×24 inches. Higher-resolution upgrades are available — just ask when you drop off.
How much does slide scanning cost?
Pricing is based on the number of slides and the format type. Standard 35mm slides are our base rate; non-standard formats (120/220, 126, 110) carry an additional charge. Contact us or stop in for a current price list.
Do you remove dust, scratches, or imperfections from scanned slides?
We use an air-cleaning process on every slide before scanning. In some cases we may use an anti-static cloth for fingerprints. However, lint, dust, and scratches that cannot be removed during the cleaning process are not retouched as part of standard scanning. Photo restoration is available as a separate service.
Do my original slides and negatives leave your store?
No. Your originals never leave our Perrysburg location. All scanning is performed on-site by our archiving team, and every original is returned to you when your order is complete.
How long does slide scanning take?
Turnaround is typically a few business days depending on the volume of your order. Contact us for a current turnaround estimate before dropping off a large collection.
Can you also scan negatives and film strips?
Yes. In addition to mounted slides, we digitize 35mm negatives and a range of other film formats. If you have both slides and negatives, bring them all in together and we’ll assess everything at drop-off.
Can you scan slides to digital from a Kodak Carousel tray?
Yes — though we ask that you remove slides from the carousel before drop-off and arrange them in order. We don’t scan directly from carousel trays, but we’re happy to help you get organized at drop-off if needed.
